Idealism, Realism and Choices

Like most young companies, we grapple daily with how to deliver the most value to everyone using Laborfair--consumers and service providers. After a year and a half operating our marketplace, we've made a management decision to focus our efforts on the three main areas where we bring the most value to everyone.  A full 90% of the activity on our marketplace is in family care, household maintenance, and jobs for what we affectionately term "the pros"--painters, electricians, plumbers, etc..

Effective today, March 6th, we reduced our category offerings to focus on these areas. Discontinuing the likes of profiles for individual fitness trainers, event caterers, and dj's was a very difficult decision. We love these providers; they bring lots of color and breadth to Laborfair. We've had people staff their entire wedding with us. Who wouldn't want a personal chef for $20 an hour or a hairdresser who makes housecalls for $35? Ideal vs. Reality. Our goal as a business is to bring the most cost-effective and targeted advertising to the provider, this translates to a minimum to 5 quality job opportunities per member per month.

As a young company, we could not consistently deliver on this internal metric to all our members equally across all categories and that forced our hand.  Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions regarding this transition, please contact us at support@laborfair.com

Keep a lookout for us, as we grow, we'll revisit these categories. All the best, Jenna
